Details: Ogun State Workers Turn Demands Gov Abiodun Is Grappling With Into 5 Points As Ultimatum Ends

The workers in the employment have condensed their demands against Governor Dapo Abiodun into 6 (six) points.

This development is in the face of indications that the threatened strike action against Abiodun’s administration looks inevitable.

Barely twenty-four (24) hours to the end of the 14 (fourteen) days ultimatum given to the Governor to fulfill the demands of the workers or they down tools, the Labor leaders have not been able to meet with the Governor.

The condensed demands titled ‘’Reasons NLC must go on strike’’ reads…

1. The negotiated and signed but unpaid new minimum wage (since 4th February, 2020)
2. The dysfunctional contributory pension scheme (a total of 134 months deducted from workers and unremitted, still counting)
3. Non promotion of staff since 2018
4. Unpaid leave bonus allowances to all employees, both of the state and of the local government since 2015
5. Non restoration of payments of gross salary
6. The zero remittance of the national housing fund deductions to the federal mortgage bank of nigeria.

The investigation conducted by societynow.ng, however, revealed that virtually all the demands are inherited obligations for the Dapo Abiodun led administration.

‘’Just that the Governor made pledges to the workers to fulfill the obligations while campaigning to be Governor, even after he was sworn’’ societynow.ng learned.

The workers resort to threats of strike action as a result of claims the Governor has neither fulfilled his pledges nor met with them to explain why.

‘’We have not been able to meet with the Governor’’ leader of workers agitation, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole asserted at different forums.
