Insiders Tell Why Amosun Will Get Ogun APC Senatorial Ticket

Despite contrary claims, insiders insist former governor Ibikunle Amosun is poised to clinch the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Ogun Central Senatorial District.

Sources familiar with the development link the move to a political understanding with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The president has given his word. Amosun is the APC flag bearer for Ogun Central in next year’s election,” a source said.

Insiders added that the arrangement included Amosun’s backing of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the APC consensus governorship candidate for 2027, alongside his public endorsement of Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Amosun made that declaration during his 68th birthday on January 25, 2026, and has since activated his political structure, sources said.

“Amosun is the APC candidate for Ogun Central. It is only a matter of time before his campaign fully kicks off,” another insider stated.

Amosun, the immediate past senator for Ogun Central, had pursued the APC presidential ticket in 2023 but later stepped down in support of Tinubu.
