Emerging details have it that the camp of Governor Dapo Abiodun has initiated negotiations with that of Senator Ibikunle Amosun over the control of the Ogun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This move is said to have been initiated by the emissaries of Governor Abiodun with Lagos state Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola playing front row.
Senator Adeola – better known as Yayi – is a major stakeholder in the administration of Governor Abiodun.
Yayi is decorated with claims of ambition to become the next Senator representing Ogun West in 2023 and succeeding Abiodun as Governor in 2027.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered the Lagos Senator whose loyalists form the largest portion of the appointments made by Abiodun was the go-to-man for the Governor when information leaked that Derin Adebiyi – the chairman elected by the congress championed by Senator Ibikunle Amosun on October 16, 2021 – has been recognized by the National Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development puts the Ogun State chapter of the APC in the hands of former Governor Amosun (Abiodun’s predecessor).
Yayi and two of Governor Abiodun’s appointees, playing complementary roles, reportedly made spirited efforts underground to the National Headquarters in Abuja to change the narrative but didn’t get the desired result.
“They should go home (Ogun state) to settle the matter with the Amosun camp” SocietyNow.Ng learned was the theme of the results Yayi and his co-travelers got from their Abuja adventure.
Added revelation has it that based on this feedback Overtures has been made to the political camp Senator Amosun by Governor Abiodun’s men.
“The objective is to work on how to harmonize the two factions of the APC in Ogun State” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
Further details revealed that committees are being set up on both sides to meet and fashion out the best way to share party positions and “keep the party together ahead of the 2023 election”.
