Emerging details have it that former Governor Ibikunle Amosun appeared to have secured the upper hand in the tussle for the soul of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.

A list released – leaked – yesterday night- Friday, December 10, 2021 – indicates that Derin Adebiyi has been affirmed as the APC chairman in Ogun State by the APC National Headquarters.

Adebiyi emerged APC Chairman at the congress that elected new executives by the faction loyal to Amosun in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State on October 16, 2021.

While Yemi Sanusi was elected APC Chairman by the group loyal to Governor Dapo Abiodun which held its congress at the MKO Abiola Stadium, also in Abeokuta Ogun State on the same day.

Both factions claimed to be the authentic APC group in Ogun state and submitted parallel lists of elected Executives to the National Headquarters.

“But as it stands, the SIA (Senator Ibikunle Amosun) faction has been recognized” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The list reportedly sourced from the National Headquarters of the APC tagged titled “All Progressives Congress State Chairmen” has aside Derin Adebiyi for Ogun state- Isaac Omodewu (Oyo), Cornelius Ojelabi (Lagos), Augustine Agada (Benue), Abdullahi Bello (Kogi), Fagbemi S Adeniran (Kwara), Gboyega Famodun (Osun), Ade Adetimehin (Ondo), Emeka Beke (Rivers) and others.

Further digs by SocietyNow.Ng revealed that “resolution” of the issues that resulted in the parallel congresses in states like Ogun and Osun as well as the harmonization of members, as parts of efforts to keep the party together ahead of 2023 general, are expected to start soon.
