Details: Dimeji Bankole’s Supporters’ Newest Sing-Song

Supporters of the former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole have a new sing-song.

Sources disclosed they have started trumpeting it about town that he will be on the list of ministerial appointment to be made by President Bola Tinubu.

“That is now their anthem, that Dimeji (Bankole) will be appointed Minister” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The Ogun state political grapevine has it that, the talks that Bankole who last held a political office in 2011 will be made Minister in the new dispensation started about a week after the inauguration ceremony of President Bola Tinubu.

The son of master politician, Alani Bankole was elected as the youngest Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives at the age of 37 in November 2007 while serving the second of two terms as the federal lawmaker representing  Abeokuta South Federal Constituency of Ogun State from June 2003 to June 2011.

The former Speaker has not been able to win any elective position in Ogun state since then.

Bankole was one of the permanent fixtures on the campaign train of Tinubu who was sworn in as President on Monday, May 29, 2023.

On the campaign train

He became a Tinubu for President campaigner after he paid the stipulated N100m form to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket but stepped down in favor of the President.

“Nothing major as being stated as the reason he would be on the Ministerial list but there are plenty talks about loyalty and support” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Before he joined the APC, Bankole was a gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ogun state (2019) after leaving the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) due to “deep seethed internal wranglings”.

He was elected Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.
