Ashafa In For A Torrid Time After Losing Senatorial Seat To “Pepperito”

Senator Gbenga Bareehu Ashafa appears in for a torrid time – politically.

Societynow.ng gathered that indications of this development became strong after he lost the chance at seeking re-election.

Bayo Osinowo, the multiple term state lawmaker from Kosofe won the All Progressives Congress Senatorial ticket for Lagos East from Ashafa in a landslide win.

Osinowo is the politician more popularly known as Pepper but prefers to be addressed as ‘’Pepperito”.

Societynow.ng gathered that the body language of party leaders against Ashafa does not bode well for the outgoing Senator.

‘’He is quietly been eased out of the inner caucus of key decision makers” is how a source summed up Ashafa’s case to societynow.ng.

The investigation conducted by societynow.ng affirm earlier reports that number one politician in Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has become uncomfortable with Ashafa.

‘’All the others are tuning in to Tinubu’s body language and shifting away from Ashafa” societynow.ng learned.

Checks revealed that those who passed through the same situation as exemplified by former Lagos speaker Olorunimbe Mamora had it extremely rough – politically – after leaving office.

Incidentally, the allegation that sparked off Mamora’s political turbulence is similar to Ashafa’s, even more.

Societynow.ng gathered Ashafa’s current excessive show of support to ‘’everything” Tinubu is part of attempts to reverse the situation.

‘’But obviously, the bus has already left the station before he realized what he was up against” another source stated.

The taking away of his Senatorial ticket ‘’Pepperito” is seen as the ultimate signal of Ashafa’s cast out of the inner caucus of the Lagos decision makers circle.

Interestingly the Senator’s reelection bid faced a fierce opposition from party members in 2015 but he was saved by Tinubu who directed Ashafa ‘’appease” the aggrieved persons.
