Aregbesola’s Group Tells Plan For Next Osun Guber Election

Omoluabi Progressives, the political group founded by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola has unveiled one of its major objectives for the next Osun state gubernatorial election.

The group has declared its intention to produce the next Governor of State.

Alhaji Adesiji Azeez, the chairman of the group with Aregbesola as grand patron on Monday, April 15, 2024, urged all members of the caucus to remain focused on the goal of having one of them in the Bola Ige House in 2026. 

Bola Ige House is the Osun state’s Governor’s office while 2026 is the year to determine the next Governor.

Azeez spoke during the inaugural Federal Constituency Tour with a visit to Osogbo Federal constituency.

The declaration comes barely days after Aregbesola further entrenched the group on the political landscape of Osun state with the inauguration of the remaining members of its management team.

The Omoluabi progressives group is described as a body of the genuine foundation members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state and houses loyalists of Aregbesola and those who share their sentiments.

Aregbesola is engulfed in a supremacy tussle with former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and his backers – who are in charge of the mainstream APC in Osun state.

The Omoluabi Progressives Caucus protects Aregbesola’s followers who have been on the receiving end of the political in-fighting.

Chairman Azeez’s declaration of the group’s ambition to produce the next governor of Osun state further pitches it against the Oyetola-led faction of the APC. And Governor Ademola led People’s Democratic Party (PDP) keen to retain power in the state.
