As the drama over ownership of No 3 Sasegbon Street, GRA Ikeja Lagos – the apartment currently occupied by longest-serving member of the Lagos state house of Assembly – goes on there are strong indications the entire edifice would be demolished by the Lagos State Government.

Funmi Tejuosho a former speaker of the Lagos State House of

Assembly is laying claim to the house.

She insists she acquired the building and has paid in full to the Lagos state government through her company.

But official sources claim otherwise.

The state government headed by Mr Akinwunmi Ambode claim the residence belongs to the state as the official apartment of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Government sources claim Tejuosho was the first beneficiary of the scheme when it started but refused to vacate the residence after she was ‘’impeached’’ as Deputy Speaker.

She was alleged to have found ways in the ‘’system’’ to acquire the property below market value during the administration of former governor Babatunde Fashola.

And allegedly resorted to a court case when the new administration of Akinwunmi Ambode moved to repossess the property after an’’ internal audit’’ revealed the anomaly.

Since she took over and while the court case stall the takeover moves, the Lagos lawmaker was said to have transformed what was formerly ‘’a colonial building with wooden deck’’ into two wings of 5 bedrooms semi-detached house.

Though sources sympathetic to her cause claim all the allegations false.

That she correctly acquired the house under the monetization programme from the previous administration (of Bbatunde Fashola) through her company.

And paid all specified fees to the last kobo.

The sources insist all that is happening is ‘’dirty politics’’.

The state government on Friday, November 3, 2017, sealed up the controversial property – while Tejuosho was on official trip to Belgium – and locked up her children and family who refused to vacate the premises.

And today, Monday, November 6, 2017, the children and all locked up family members were forcefully ejected as doors were broken and electricity supply disconnected.

Insiders disclosed there are plans to ‘’demolish’’ the building because Tejuosho remodeled it to its present state.

The plan by the government to demolish the building is to remove all traces of Tejuosho’s claim and build a ‘’more befitting’’ Deputy Speakers official residence societynow learned.

in order not to be found wanting in the state government with the approval of governor Ambode moved in on the property on Friday after the court struck out Tejuosho’s case, and before she could appeal the verdict.
