All the loyalists of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun in the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), including gubernatorial candidate Biyi Otegbeye, are back in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A top level insider confirmed the development to SocietyNow.Ng.

“ADC was more of a vocation, a vehicle. APC remains our main party” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Former Governor Amosun planted his men in the ADC after a total sidelining in APC by Governor Dapo Abiodun ahead of the 2023 general election.

The sidelining was the result of a supremacy that went the way of Abiodun in the last gasp.

Abiodun immediately adopted a hardcore winner takes all posture, shutting out Amosun and his men, in party affairs.

Sources claimed the Governor refused to budge even at a meeting with party leaders including then Presidential candidate – now President – Bola Tinubu.

“It was at that meeting that Amosun got the go ahead to find an alternative platform for his men to contest the election based on understanding that his structure will work for APC in the Presidential election and return to the APC after the elections whatever the outcome of the other electoral contests” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Abiodun

Though Amosun planted his men in the ADC, he remained in APC as the Senator representing Ogun Central.

He didn’t seek re-election but aspired to be Presidential candidate. He, however, stepped down in support of Tinubu during the Presidential primary and urged all other aspirants to do the same.

His men, however, did fare as expected in Ogun state.

Otegbeye the gubernatorial candidate of the ADC on whom all political strength were concentrated came third in the March 11, 2023 election with 94,754 votes while Ladi Adebutu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) got 262,383 votes came second and the winner Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured a second term in office with 276,298 votes.

Adebutu is challenging Abiodun’s win in court.
