Osun Election: ‘No Victor, No Vanquished’ — Adeleke Campaign Spokesperson Urges Unity

The spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has called on the people of Osun State to unite and work together for the peace and development of the state following the conclusion of the governorship election.

Olajengbesi, in a post-election reaction, said the people had spoken through the ballot, stressing that the outcome should mark the beginning of a new phase of unity beyond political differences.

“The election is over. The people have spoken, and democracy has prevailed,” he said, adding “Now is the time to come together as one people and one family. Beyond political parties and differences, we are all Osun people.”

The call came after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party winner of Saturday’s election, securing a second term in office.

Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes, giving the governor a winning margin of 66,252 votes. Adeleke won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.

The result marked Adeleke’s second consecutive governorship victory in Osun, after he defeated then-incumbent Gboyega Oyetola in the 2022 election.

Olajengbesi urged supporters across the political divide to accept the outcome and shift their focus to the future of the state.

“There is no victor, no vanquished. Let us put the election behind us, embrace one another and work together for the peace, progress and development of our dear state,” he said, insisting “Osun comes first.”
