Why They Are Linking Aregbesola To Obasa’s Mounting Allegations Of Corruption

‘’It’s a case of the conviction that if you are not for me, you are against but in this case, it is an erroneous impression’’ a source stated simply in response to claims that Minister Rauf Aregbesola is one of the architects of the mounting corruption allegations against Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.

Checks by societynow.ng revealed that the Obasa camp holds the belief that Aregbesola has a hand in the Speaker’s travails because of the Minister’s position on the cold war between Obasa and Senator Bayo Osinowo.

Obasa initiated a supremacy battle against Osinowo better known as Pepper by plotting the removal of his loyalists in the Lagos State House of Assembly from positions of influence.

Socieynow.ng gathered that one of the early moves by Obasa to protect himself making the move was to lobby Aregbesola to his side against Osinowo.

Insiders disclosed that the Minister told the Speaker point-blank that ‘’Pepper brought you to me if you have anything against him go and settle it with him’’.

Sources claim that the response by Aregbesola – and refusal to take sides – birthed the belief in Obasa’s camp that he has a hand in the speaker’s travails.

‘’They see Aregbesola and Pepper together, still as thick as ever and this fueled the talks they are working against Obasa to the extent that notion found its way into write-ups protesting the Speaker’s innocence against the corruption allegations’’ societynow.ng learned.

It was actually the closeness to Osinowo that allowed Obasa easy access to Aregbesola, Obasa is nowhere near Aregbesola in stature politically and the loss of access to the Minister sparked off these talks’’ a source asserted.
