The fight between Musiliu Akinsanya the transport union boss popularly known as MC Oluomo and Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is far from over.

The fight resulted in the ban of NURTW activities in Lagos state after MC Oluomo pulled his team out of the transport union in retaliation to his indefinite suspension.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the next level in the fight is to ensure that MC Oluomo does not emerge as the head of the committee the Lagos state government will hand over the operations of the suspended NURTW.

The statement by Gbenga Omotosho, the commissioner for Information telling stated that “The Government will set up a Committee to immediately take control of the parks and garages. Members of the committee will be key stakeholders in the sector”.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that this revelation- amplified by those out for Oluomo – spurred the claims refuted by Gboyega Akosile ( the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu) that MC Oluomo has been made the head of the Park Managers to be introduced by the Lagos State Government.

“And that is where the fight is now. To ensure Oluomo does not head the new body and has no significant influence” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The fight is being prosecuted through those in Lagos state that will be at the receiving end with MC Oluomo in firm control of a larger percentage of Transport Union activities as inheritor of the operations of the Lagos NURTW structure.

Oluomo was suspended for “insubordination” and “inciting members”.

The charges were in the thick of a faceoff to prevent Baruwa from taking control of the Lagos state chapter of the NURTW through the backdoor.

Lagos is the biggest earner for the NURTW and at stake is the astounding daily revenue.

With the earlier loss of its operations in Ogun and Oyo states, the latest development in Lagos state is a very unwelcome development for Baurwa and the larger NURTW.
