Information available attribute this development to an unreported happenstance at the palace of the Alake of Abeokuta – informally known as the Alake of Egbaland -, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo during the visit of Present Bola Tinubu.

“The President deflected Osoba’s attempt to outshine Amosun” according to those in the know.

On arrival at the palace of the Alake in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, Osoba attempted to corner the President’s attention but Tinubu – with Governor Dapo Abiodun hovering beside him – subtly rebuffed the move and duly recognized Amosun and, even chatted with him briefly before turning his attention to Osoba and others SocietyNow.Ng learned.

“The President gave Osoba his dues, even hailed him but side stepped the attempt to push Amosun to the background” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Information available revealed that the manner of standing was such that Alake was between Osoba and Amosun.

“Alake was the first person the President exchanged greetings and Osoba moved in, to be the next person but Tinubu switched to Amosun and on to the person beside him before coming over to Osoba and those standing with including his son, Olumide” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Olumide, quickly brought forward by Osoba, was the last person on the reception team that the President greeted.

“If Osoba had gotten away with his move and the situation reversed, the President would have greeted his son Olumide before turning to Amosun” a source pointed out.

SocietyNow.Ng leaned that the order of greetings by the President is vital because it points to the political and related relevance of all those involved.

In different roles, both Osoba and Amosun contributed to the emergence of Tinubu as the President of Nigeria.

The President was on a two-part thank you visit to Ogun state on Tuesday, June 29, 2023 when the incident transpired.

He arrived the palace of Alake after the first-leg of his visit at the palace of the Awujale of Ijebu – Ode, Oba Sikiru Adetona where he was hosted by a high-calibre delegation that included globally rich Mike Adenuga and Senator Gbenga Daniel.

Tinubu was welcomed at the palace of the Awujale by the delegation that included Oba Gbadebo, former Governors Olusegun Osoba and Ibikunle Amosun , Ex Federal House of Representatives Speaker Dimeji Bankole, Senator Salisu Afolabi Shaib, Federal House of Representatives member Olumide Osoba and others.
