Phillip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo state is having sleepless nights.

He is scampering about town in a frantic battle to stop his impeachment by friend turned foe, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Things have fallen apart so bad between the two that the 53 year-old Deputy Governor who went all out against his mentor, Adams Oshiomhole, for Obaseki, 66, to take power has gone to court to stop his impeachment.

While, Shaibu takes the route that has thrown the fight into the open, SocietyNow.Ng’s checks reveals what Obaseki has been up to.

Findings revealed the Governor has been consistent in making known his activities on his social media page while ignoring the antics of his Deputy here and there.

Three days ago he met with Charlton Ehizuelen, Godwin Obasogie and Bruce Ijirigho – the Olympians who brought glory to the old Bendel state – on setting up the inaugural edition of the Edo/Delta State Annual Competition for secondary schools.

Same day, he engaged Labour groups on how to alleviate the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy in the state.

These happenings were in the middle of the breaking into public space of his rift with Deputy Governor Shaibu. But the Governor stuck to updating the public about his “official” tasks.

The Governor was later at the construction site for the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) Edo to monitor the progress of the project expected to be completed next year.

The day after – Friday August 4, 2023 -, Obaseki hosted ranking officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to an “extensive dialogue” on how to prevent loss of lives on deplorable Federal Roads in the state.

The Governor disclosed he inspected some of the “world-class facilities” re-laid at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and other 20 mini stadiums constructed across the state same day.

At this time, the trouble between the Governor and his Deputy Governor had become full blown public knowledge.

Shaibu and Obaseki – when the going was good.

But he ignored the talks and emerging reports about the crisis with his Deputy as exemplified in another Inspection of ongoing construction of Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) in a disclosure he made on Saturday.

As reports of his feud with his Deputy continue to fester, Obaseki’s last update of what he has been up to was information that he attended the meeting of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum with the new President of the World Bank group to Nigeria – Ajay Banga.

Obaseki made the last revelation on Saturday, August 5, 2023 with talks and reports of his fight with Deputy Governor Shaibu at the “highest’ in recent time.
