The information filtering out of Elegushi Beach in Ikate, Lagos is worrying as Lagos state government grapples with the second wave of Covid-19.
Sources disclosed that fun-seekers daily troop in the domain of Oba Saheed Elegushi in seemingly uncountable numbers.
Societynow.ng learned that Oba Elegushi initially shutdown the beach as part of steps to complement the government’s efforts in the fight against Covid-19.

“But he bowed to the pressure of those who seized the opportunity of the festive period to make huge revenue and ordered the place to be re-opened” societynow.ng learned.
“The numbers of those that go there, the defiance against Covid-19 protocol is alarming” societynow.ng learned.
The videos circulating about what goes on at the beach is particularly worrying.
Fun seekers are seen in large numbers, bunched together and generally having fun without any form of control or care about the existence of Covid-19.
The administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu which has acted commendably since the fight against Covid-19 started has, however, not responded to the explosion of fun seekers at Elegushi beach since Christmas; and to date (Sunday, January 3, 2021).
“What is happening at Elegush beach is enough to soar the rate of the infection of Covid-19 in Lagos state beyond measure” societynow.ng learned.
