“Turning Into A Shameful Exercise” – PDP’s Agboola Ajayi Decries Happenings In Ondo Guber Election
“This election is turning into a shameful exercise,” he said
The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Alfred Agboola Ajayi, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of compromising the electoral process in the ongoing governorship election.
Ajayi criticized INEC for its inability to conduct a credible election in a single state, highlighting widespread vote-buying allegedly orchestrated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and technical issues with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). Despite his concerns, he expressed confidence in emerging victorious and urged voters to participate without fear.
Speaking after casting his vote at Apoi Ward 11, Unit 004, located at RCM Idumado Quarters, Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area, Ajayi lamented the inefficiencies in the process.
“The system has been compromised,” he declared. “It’s unfortunate that INEC cannot manage an election in one state. The BVAS machines are malfunctioning—it took nearly 10 minutes to accredit me. This appears to be a deliberate act by INEC and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola. We’ve repeatedly warned that she cannot be impartial.”
Ajayi also decried reports of vote-buying, describing it as a disgraceful practice undermining the democratic process.
“I have received numerous complaints from across the state about massive vote-buying. This election is turning into a shameful exercise,” he said.
Nevertheless, the PDP candidate called on Ondo State residents to remain steadfast and exercise their civic duty.
“Our people must stay resolute and come out to vote. We must not succumb to the antics of the APC and INEC. We will overcome,” Ajayi assured.
