“Monitor the Process Diligently” – Olumide Akpata Urges in Edo Guber
The candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in today’s Edo State gubernatorial election has urged that the process be monitored diligently.
The gubernatorial candidate, who reportedly lost his polling unit to Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), gave the charge during the election after he voted.
Akpata, who is the third of the three main contenders in the intense election to determine the next governor of Edo State, further urged his supporters to “stay alert and engaged” in a social media post as results continue to come in.
He wrote: “Today, like many Edo voters, I carried out my civic duty by casting my vote at my polling unit. My voting experience was pretty smooth, and I hope it’s a similar story for other voters across our state. Furthermore, I’m impressed by the resilience of the voters, many of whom braved the rain to participate.
“As we await results, let’s stay alert and engaged. Our active involvement safeguards our democracy. I encourage all to monitor the process diligently.
“Thank you to everyone participating on this important day.”
This development comes amidst unverified results placing the other candidates, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Ighodalo of the PDP, ahead in the election dubbed a three-horse race.
