Emerging details have it that voices of victims trapped under the rubbles of the 21storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos yesterday are still being heard – 24hours after the incident.

The undergoing construction building owned by Fourscore Heights Limited – with Femi Osibona as the promoter – collapsed about 1.30 p.m on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Rescue teams have been trying to help victims trapped under the debris with conflicting figures circulating about the numbers of those involved.

Mr Osibona, workers on site, and some clients are believed to be some of the trapped victims.

Nine persons have been rescued with different degrees of injuries and 10 people were confirmed dead as of this morning(November 2, 2021).

The rescue teams are encouraged to keep at it as they hear voices of victims still trapped under the debris according to information monitored by societynow.ng on a live report on television station- TVC.

Sympathizers and family members of some of the victims have thronged the Ikoyi site of the collapsed building in search of their loved ones.

Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Femi Hamzat who was at the scene this morning insisted that the rescue team will not leave until all the victims are accounted for.

The Deputy Governor also corrected the wrong information circulating that Fourscore got approval for a 15storey building and not 21storey building and that the Government had shut down the site but the owner allegedly clandestinely continued building until yesterday’s collapse.

“As a matter of fact, this place was sealed for about four months sometime last year from July to November because our agency came in to do structural test and saw some anomalies and shut it down and said those things should be corrected

“…They were making corrective actions when this happened. At the time this happened, they were not really constructing but investigations later will show what really happened.

“This particular building that collapsed was approved for 21 floors three years ago not 15 floors, it’s the construction that failed apparently.” the Deputy Governor explained.
