Nigeria’s leading industrialist and philanthropist, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has shared a glimpse into a quiet moment of friendship and reflection during the holy month of Ramadan after hosting a select gathering of close associates for Iftar at his Lagos residence.

The Chairman of BUA Group and founder of the pan-African philanthropic platform ASR Africa, disclosed the gathering in a social media post on Saturday, February 7, 2026, noting that the evening was dedicated to strengthening bonds among long-standing friends.

“Ramadan 18 — Honoured to host some of my closest friends for Iftar at home in Lagos. Grateful that my brother Aliko joined us along with others. May our bonds continue to grow stronger,” Rabiu wrote.

Among those present was Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, whom Rabiu described warmly as his “brother,” underscoring the longstanding relationship between two of Nigeria’s most influential business figures.

Photos shared from the evening captured a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. In one image, Rabiu and his guests posed together against a vibrant contemporary art backdrop inside the residence, smiling and dressed in traditional attire that reflected the spirit of the Ramadan season.

Another photograph showed the group seated around a dining table, sharing the Iftar meal in an intimate setting. Bottled water, dates, and a variety of dishes were arranged across the table as conversations flowed among the guests, many of whom are known figures within Nigeria’s business and policy circles.

The gathering highlighted not only the spiritual significance of Ramadan but also the enduring personal ties among some of the country’s leading entrepreneurs and leaders.

The philanthropist, widely respected for his contributions to Nigeria’s economic development through BUA Group—a major player in cement, sugar, foods, and infrastructure—has in recent years also become one of Africa’s most visible philanthropists through ASR Africa.

Through ASR Africa, Rabiu has committed billions of naira to education, health, and social development initiatives across the continent, reinforcing his reputation as one of Africa’s most influential private philanthropists.

The Iftar gathering therefore reflected more than a social evening; it symbolised a moment of reflection, gratitude, and fellowship among friends who have played significant roles in shaping Nigeria’s business landscape.
