Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, made their first public appearance together on Saturday following their latest truce.
The two political figures were seen at the funeral service of Wike’s cousin, the late Elder Temple Omezurike Onuoha, which held in Rumueprikom, the hometown of the FCT Minister.

Other dignitaries were also in attendance, in what observers described as a symbolic gesture of reconciliation amid a months-long political rift in Rivers State.
In a post on his official Facebook page shortly after the event, Governor Fubara shared details of his participation and emphasized a renewed commitment to peace.

“Today, I joined the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and other dignitaries at the funeral service of his beloved cousin, the late Elder Temple Omezurike Onuoha, in Rumueprikom,” Fubara wrote.
He added that following the service, he met with stakeholders and supporters “to reaffirm our collective commitment to unity and total peace in Rivers State,” noting that “the peace we have achieved is here to stay.”

The appearance comes days after both men met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where a fresh peace agreement was reached to douse tensions and stabilize governance in Rivers State.

Fubara’s public comments are being seen by many as a deliberate effort to calm nerves and project a readiness to work with all parties in moving the state forward.
