Oppositions Should Go To Sleep? …Lagos Senator Adeola Yayi To Succeed Dapo Abiodun As Gov Of Ogun State
Charles Oyelesi
Emerging details have it that rather than weakened, the political alliance that brought Dapo Abiodun to power appears to be getting stronger.
Insiders disclosed that at the heart of this development is a power-sharing arrangement.
It has been agreed that Governor Abiodun informally known as D.A would serve two terms and Lagos Senator Solomon Adeola who is famously known as Yayi would succeed him societynow.ng learned.

Emerging details have it that Yayi would revert to the initial arrangement of becoming the Senator representing Ogun West – in the next general election – in the bid to galvanize much-needed support and awareness in succeeding Dapo Abiodun the year 2027.
‘’The implication of this is that Yayi is preparing to take away the position of another player in the arrangement Tolu Odebiyi who was compensated with the Ogun west senatorial position for standing down his gubernatorial ambition’’ a source stated.
Odebiyi and more involved player Abimbola Ashiru were some of the notable names in the fierce campaign that produced Dapo Abiodun as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State in the last general election.
Insiders, however, disclosed there is a plan in place to take care of ‘’all political interests, even the outspoken group of a former governor (Olusegun) Osoba shouting marginalization all over town”.

Societynow.ng gathered that this arrangement enjoys the placing of influential politician – and chief strategist of the combined political forces – Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the ex-governor of Ogun state.
‘’It is also this arrangement that saw Yayi emerged one of the biggest winners in the government of governor Abiodun. He got six slots from the list of commissioners announced so far. The move is to keep his ambition in check and true to the arrangement at hand’’ societynow.ng learned.
The further checks made by societynow.ng revealed that there are many, even in the ranks of the combined political forces backing governor Abiodun that do not believe in the plan.
‘’The oppositions are just too active. And those eyeing the number one position in Ogun state either directly or indirectly are too influential and connected to just go to sleep for this plan to sail through. And even, within the APC there is still the powerful (Ibikunle Amosun) Amosun and the returnee Akinlade to contend with’’ an insider pointed out.
Amosun, the immediate past governor of Ogun state regarded as one of the most powerful politicians in the southwest is passionately against Dapo Abiodun and his co-travelers.

‘’And truth be told, Amosun still retains the upper hand in the presidency and is getting a better handle on the national politics of the ruling party’’ a source stated.
‘’But the plan by the political alliance backing governor Abiodun is not without its merit. It is worth noting that though a Senator in Lagos state, Yayi remains a major political force in Ogun West and virtually dwarfs other gubernatorial aspirants from that zone but it is just that it is not only votes in that zone that determines who becomes the governor of Ogun state’’ another source stated.
