Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has sworn in Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as the substantive chairman of Agege local government.

Obasa, the son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, had been acting in the role following the resignation of the former chairman, Tunde Azeez, who stepped down on health grounds.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday at the Lagos House, Ikeja, where Sanwo-Olu formally charged Obasa with the responsibility of leading the affairs of the local government.

Speaking at the event, the governor said governance in Lagos State is anchored on appointing capable and trustworthy individuals who approach public office as a call to service.

Sanwo-Olu said leadership in the state will continue to be guided by the will of the people and the need for results-driven governance.

“Leadership in Lagos State is defined by service, discipline, and results,” the governor said.

And, added “the office you now occupy is not a reward; it is a responsibility. The people of Lagos expect diligence, integrity, and impact — and they deserve nothing less.”

In his remarks, Obasa assured residents of Agege of an inclusive and united
administration, saying reconciliation efforts within the All Progressives Congress and across the local government have been ongoing since the party’s primary election.

He pledged to work with all stakeholders to deliver effective governance and ensure peace and development at the grassroots.
