Niger Govt Partners AUDA – NEPAD To Boost Socio-economic Growth

Niger State government has disclosed that it is willing to collaborate with the Africa Union Development Agency AUDA- NEPAD to boost the socio economic growth of the State and the Nation at large.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago stated this when he received a delegation from the Agency led by the National Coordinator and CEO, Jabiru Salisu at his official residence, Government House Minna.

The farmer Governor who appreciated the delegation for the visit said his administration will give the Agency all the necessary support to achieve set objectives.

While congratulating the National Coordinator for his appointment, the farmer governor also commended him for putting up a team that consists of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The farmer governor equally advocated the need to engage the African peer review mechanism which he described as a very important instrument saying, lack of application of the peer review mechanism by Nigeria has proven to be a factor that has led to many smaller African Countries being ahead of Nigeria in certain endeavours especially in agriculture.

He therefore encouraged its usage, which will also fastrack the attainment of the African free trade agreement.

The National Coordinator, AUDA-NEPAD, Jabiru Salisu said, the team was in Minna to console with the farmer governor over the death of the father of Abdullahi Yunusa who is a friend to governor Bago and the Special Assistant for special duties to the National Coordinator AUDA NEPAD.

He used the medium to acknowledge the farmer governor’s developmental strides across the State and reiterated that the Agency is looking forward to working with the Niger State government for growth and prosperity of the state.

He also informed the Governor that approval has been given for Niger State to host AUDA-NEPAD North Central Zonal office and appreciated governor Bago for his efforts in providing employment opportunities for the residents of the state
