Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has visited the first batch of forest guard trainees in the state.

The trainees were drawn from across the 25 local government areas of the state.

The visit, which provided an opportunity for the farmer governor to interact with the trainees, was also to boost their morale.

He congratulated the trainees and urged them to remain disciplined and resilient while assuring them of the state government’s determination to provide every necessary support and ensure their well-being.

The farmer governor disclosed that more people will be recruited and trained in batches to secure communities across the state.

Forest Guard is a strategic move by the federal government in collaboration with state governments to create a permanent, armed, and locally rooted security force to reclaim Nigeria’s forests from criminal elements and protect the environment.
