With the 2026 Osun State governorship election drawing closer, loyalists of Governor Ademola Adeleke have begun rolling out reasons why they believe the “dancing governor” is on solid ground to secure a second term in office.

They point to what they describe as a “remarkable performance across key sectors” of the state—ranging from infrastructure to healthcare, digital economy, and workers’ welfare—as evidence that Adeleke has not only won over the grassroots but also earned the respect of political observers across party lines.

Among his signature achievements is the construction and rehabilitation of over 250 kilometers of roads, three flyovers, dual carriageways, schools, and health centers—all reportedly done without acquiring new debts. “He has shown fiscal discipline and development drive rarely seen in Osun’s recent history,” a senior aide said.

Labour unions, once at loggerheads with past administrations, now openly back Adeleke, citing his prompt payment of salaries and pensions, full clearance of inherited arrears, staff promotions, and a health insurance scheme for retirees. “He is a friend of workers, and workers remember their friends when it matters most,” said a local source.

His medical outreach program, which has offered free treatment to tens of thousands, along with digital economy initiatives and loans to artisans and farmers, have earned Adeleke praise for what his supporters call “people-first governance.”

In addition to performance, political calculations may also be boosting Adeleke’s confidence. Sources within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun whisper that behind-the-scenes alignments may be unfolding between Adeleke and President Bola Tinubu, whose All Progressives Congress (APC) lost Osun in the 2023 presidential election.

One insider speculated that Adeleke’s growing warmth towards the federal government could signal a possible strategic understanding: that Adeleke may back Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid in exchange for the President staying neutral—or even quietly supportive—in the Osun 2026 governorship race.

“There’s no official confirmation, of course, but political survival is about pragmatism. If it helps Tinubu regain Osun in 2027, and helps Adeleke win a second term in 2026, it’s a win-win,” the source claimed.

Meanwhile, the APC in the state is reportedly struggling with internal divisions and a lack of a clear frontrunner challenger.

Adeleke’s camp insists the governor is focused on delivering more results, not political games.

But with such momentum and whispers of quiet federal cooperation, it’s easy to see why he and his team are confident the Osun electorate will dance with him once again in 2026.
