Ladi Adebutu, Dapo Abiodun Keep It Real At Burial Of Saraki’s Mother
even among common friends.
Governor Dapo Abiodun and his political foe, Oladipupo Adebutu were among high profile guests at the talk-of-the-town burial ceremony of madam Florence, the mother of former Senate President – Bukola Saraki.
After a who-is-who attracting service of songs at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos on Thursday, July 18, 2024, a funeral service was held at the Cathedral Church of Christ Marina, Lagos on Friday, July 19, with a “private internment” immediately after.
Abiodun and Adebutu who were part of the engagements, kept their “no love lost” relationship real at the event – even among common friends.
They were particularly spotted at the reception snubbing each other while Adebutu exchanged pleasantries with common friend, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state.
The duo, members of rival political parties the All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP), became ardent adversaries ahead of Abiodun becoming the Governor of Ogun state in 2019 and have taken the opposition several notches higher after Abiodun’s near loss to Adebutu in securing his second term in 2023.
The burial which attracted big names in and out of politics including listed Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno and predecessor – Emmanuel Udom, strong man of Delta politics – James Ibori and others is widely described as testament to Bukola Saraki’s influence and far-reaching pull across sectors.
