Ladi Adebutu — real name Oladipupo Adebutu — the force behind the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) strong outings in recent elections, is said to be plotting a “surprise alliance” ahead of 2027.

A serial gubernatorial contender, Adebutu came close to clinching the governorship in 2023 and was believed to be preparing for another run before the PDP’s internal crisis deepened, casting doubt over the party’s 2027 prospects.

Insiders say that while chieftains across the country are defecting to safeguard their ambitions, Ogun’s PDP figurehead is pursuing a different path — a strategic alliance that could reshape the state’s political landscape, especially the governorship race.

Sources say details of the deal remain tightly guarded, even within Adebutu’s inner circle.
“But one thing is clear: the alliance will play a decisive role in determining the next senator for Ogun East and the next governor of Ogun State,” a source said.

Adebutu is widely regarded as one of the four dominant political forces in Ogun, alongside former governors Ibikunle Amosun, Gbenga Daniel, and Senator Solomon Adeola.
