Investigators Pick Up Guber Aspirant Dele Belgore Over Ex Petrol Minister Diezani Madueke’s N23billion Election Largesse

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly arrested Mohammed Dele Belgore, governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Kwara State, in the 2011 general election.

It was said that Belgore, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chieftain, who vied for the party’s governorship ticket in the last election in Kwara State but lost was arrested over allegation that he benefited handsomely from N23billion former minister of petroleum resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke shared out during the 2015 general elections.

The allegation made against him, according to source, was that he got N300m from the alleged proceeds of fraud.

Informed sources told OrijoReporter that Belgore has been in detention at EFCC’s Lagos office at 15A, Awolowo Road in Ikoyi since last Thursday till the time of writing this report.

Our correspondent called Belgore on his two mobile lines, an MTN and Airtel to confirm his reported arrest from him but his phone(s) was switched off.

Also text message sent to the lines were not replied.

Dele Belgore a politician cum lawyer, became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2001 at the age of 40. He is former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Alfa Belgore’s nephew. His late father, Babatunde Belgore was a retired federal high court judge.
