Former Minister of Police Affairs, David Jemibewon says he doesn’t look forward to celebrating 100 years or more.

The 80yrs old ex-minister made the declaration while speaking on The Chat, a television show aired on Channels Television today September 1, 2020.

Jemibewon asserted that ‘’though I am not contemplating suicide I am not looking forward to celebrating 100years.’’

The former Governor of the defunct western region explained that he finds it hard to move as an eighty-year-old man and imagines how he would cope as a hundred-year-old person.

‘’I believe it is more dignified to disappear now that get to an age when you become a nuisance’’ the former governor stated.

Jemibewon also used the opportunity to provide an insight into the untold story of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

According to Jemibewon disclosed he laid the foundation for the FRSC as the governor of the Western Region.

According to Jemibewon, he set up a road safety agency after a particular road accident in Ibadan claimed 32 lives.

‘’I took the proposal to Obasanjo who was head of state and he directed me to Yaradu’a who was in charge of the states. Some people opposed it because they claim the federal government should be in charge of safety on the roads but Yaradu’a said ensuring safety on the road should be what all meaning Nigerians should support and approved it

‘’IBB (former military president Ibrahim Babangida) made it a national agency through his ingenuity’’ Jemibewon narrated.

Reacting to the state of the nation under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the former Minister asserted that ‘’things have never been this bad. If you ask ordinary Nigerians on the streets they have lost confidence in the country. Am not saying me because I am aged, but ordinary Nigerians, we wish him (Buhari) best of luck and the country.’’
