‘’I Am Here To Do My Assignment, The I.G Cannot Tell Me To Leave Edo State’’ Gov Wike Insists, Reveals Location As Voting Continues

The Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike insists that the Inspector General of Police Abubakar Adamu is not in a position to tell him to leave Edo State.

‘’How can the I.G tell me I must leave Edo state that my presence is causing crisis…And i said for what, why will you tell me to leave, I am in my room and the IG cannot tell to leave Edo state, you see what is happening in this country…I am here to do my assignment…I must be able to do it and be able to write my report by the campaign council. It is not for the IG to call me and tell to leave Edo state’’ Wike asserted in a telephone conversation aired on television station AIT and monitored by societynow.ng.

Governor Wike is in Edo state as the National Campaign Council Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the ongoing gubernatorial election.

The Governor claims the Inspector General of Police called him on phone and ordered him out of Edo State immediately but he refused.

Wike claimed that after the conversation with the nation’s number one police officer ‘’ before I knew it they ordered 300 policemen and surrounded my hotel and I said no problem…I am here to do my assignment and I hold it as a duty’’

The Rivers state governor is reportedly staying at a hotel, in the Government Reserved Area of the state capital, Benin City.

He is backing Governor Godwin Obaseki, the candidate of his party, to win another term in office.

News of Governor Wike’s situation filtered out yesterday with an official statement from the Rivers State government asserting that his life is ‘’in danger’’.

The Rivers State government claim that Wike’s situation is especially worrisome because ‘’…when placed against the backdrop of the fact that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, who equally occupies this same position in the All Progressives Congress, APC, and indeed his counterpart, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, are all in Benin, Edo State, carrying out the same assignment for the APC.’’

Wike made the same assertion when in the telephone conversation aired by AIT and monitored by societynow.ng.
