This is directly comes in the face of directive by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of total enforcement of the law that stipulates a N90,OOO fine or 6months jail term for both sellers and buyers.

The Lagos helms man adopted the tough stance of going after buyers in the aftermath
of destruction of public buses by angry street traders over alleged killing of one of theirs by a BRT bus in attempt to apprehend him by state agency, Kick Against Indiscipline.

The governor disclosing over 49 buses were vandalised and that it would take almost N139m to put them back on the road confirmed a total enforcement of the law that ropes in buyers into the offence is needed to combat the menace of street trading.

The governor made disclosure on Friday July 2 2016.

Today Monday June 2016 is effectively the first day the compliance of the law would be observed.
