Dr. Lekan Are has stepped down as both The Chairman, Board of Directors and non-executive director of Universal Press Plc. The resignation was accepted during the Board of Directors’ meeting on June 20, 2019.
Meanwhile, Obafunso Ogunkeye, a sitting non-executive Director has been appointed to take over as the new Chairman from August 1, 2019 where as Olayinka Lawal, has been appointed as a non-executive Director also with effect from August 1, 2019.

Obafunso Ogunkeye is a legal practitioner with 4 decades of post-call experience. He has a Degree in law from Obafemi Awolowo University and started his law practice with Fawole, Babalakin & Co. before establishing his own law firm in 1983. He served as Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association Ibadan branch between 2008 and 2010 and has been a non-executive Director at the University Press since March 11, 2010.

Olayinka Lawal is an authorised Dealing Clerk of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and an Associate of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers with over 26 years Capital/Money Markets experience. He is also an alumnus of the Lagos Business School and was a Senior Manager at Signet Investments & Securities Ltd. Lawal was also an Investment Analyst at Independent Securities Ltd where he later became a member of the Board of the company when he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer. He resigned his appointment in May 2007 to co-found a private full-fledged Consulting Firm with focus on Education Management/Finance & Investment Advisory services.
