Guber Candidate, Jimi Lawal Takes Up New Job
before the court invalidated his candidacy
Jimi Lawal, the gubernatorial candidate of a faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 Ogun state governorship election – before the court invalidated his candidacy – has taken up a new job.
He is a part of the new venture capital company with former Governor Nasir El-Rufa as chief promoter.
The company that will be investing about $100m in young Nigerians with innovative ideas is named Afri-Venture Capital Company.
Jimi Lawal is on board as Director along with the likes of Hafiz Bayero, Eyo Ekpo, and Kabir Yabo.
The venture capital company with El-Rufa as the Chairman will begin operations in January 2024.
Before he contested for the Ogun state gubernatorial election and almost made it to the ballot – before the court awarded the governorship ticket to Ladi Adebutu – Lawal was Special Adviser to El-Rufai, when he the latter was the Governor of Kaduna state.
