A political support group under the banner of Ambode Comeback Crusaders has called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos State to back the return of former governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, for a second term in office.

In an open letter addressed to the state and national leadership of the APC and the GAC, the group’s leader, Abiodun S. Fashola, urged the party hierarchy to support Ambode’s re-election bid, citing his developmental achievements during his first tenure between 2015 and 2019.

The letter highlighted Ambode’s “commendable leadership and transformative vision,” noting that his administration initiated several landmark projects that shaped Lagos’ growth trajectory.

It listed the construction of major roads, expansion of highways, and the development of the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge as part of the former governor’s infrastructural legacy that enhanced connectivity and spurred economic activity across the state.

The group also pointed to his investments in education, healthcare, and environmental reforms, including the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme and the Cleaner Lagos Initiative, which redefined waste management and public sanitation.

According to the letter, Ambode’s tenure marked a period of prudent financial management, improved revenue generation, and increased investor confidence that contributed to job creation and economic stability.

Reaffirming the former governor’s constitutional right to seek re-election, the group appealed to APC leaders to “respect his mandate and allow him to continue his transformative agenda for the benefit of all Lagosians.”

“We strongly advocate the support of Mr Akinwunmi Ibidapo Ambode’s candidacy for a second term,” the group said. “His visionary leadership is essential to build on the successes of his first term and to navigate the challenges ahead.”

The group expressed optimism that with renewed support from the party’s leadership, Lagos would experience “another era of growth, innovation, and people-centred governance” under Ambode’s stewardship.
