It is a season of unending political soap opera in Ogun state.

The latest is turning out to be an unbecoming fall out between allies, Ladi Adebutu and Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade.

The were the tickets holders of the People”s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 Ogun state gubernatorial election.

Adebutu was the gubernatorial candidate and Akinlade his deputy, in a testy election that they almost secured a win. Governor Dapo Abiodun won a second term in office through the election with less than fourteen votes.

Akinlade in sensationally announcing a breakaway from Adebutu has now labelled the loss, they fought tooth and nail in court to overturn, as a blessing in disguise for the state.

In a mouth-gaping-turn-around, Akinlade is asserting that the man he campaigned as the next best thing across the state is actually not capable.

And publicly went very personal against Adebutu in the bid to illustrate his claims – according to reports.

The development has, however, cascaded into a larger drama as aides and supporters of Governor Dapo Abiodun tried to milk the situation against Adebutu – who remains the strongest political adversary outside the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The moves was championed by the Govenor”s Senior Special Adviser on new media, Emmanuel Ojo – otherwise known as SF Ojo.

Adebutu’s men came all out to shut down the move, with counter-claims against the governor.

They encamped on Ojo’s social media page in a without restraint all out attack – turning the situation into unfavourable assessment of Governor Abiodun’s performance.

The situation has resulted in spin-off narratives across social media platforms – and the streets.

Interestingly,  Adebutu’s men appeared to outnumber Abiodun’s supporters – even on the social media page of his Senior Special Adviser on New Media, at press time.
