The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) has ordered its clergy recently elevated to the highest ranks to present their anointment certificates for verification, in what is seen as a major step to strengthen accountability within the fold.

The directive affects those promoted to the positions of Assistant Venerable Superior Evangelist (AVSE), Venerable Superior Evangelist (VSE), and Assistant Most Superior Evangelist (AMSE) during the March 2025 anointment exercise.

According to a notice issued by Superior Evangelist Kayode Ajala, head of the church’s worldwide media arm, the verification will take place on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Lagos state headquarters in Agidingbi, with AMSE Firmin Adjovi, chairman of the CCC Task Force Corps, presiding.

Attendance is compulsory.

The exercise is widely believed to be part of a renewed drive to reinforce discipline and order in the church under the leadership of Pastor Emmanuel Oshoffa, the global head. It also represents the first significant action taken by Adjovi since his return as Task Force chairman, signalling what insiders describe as “a more assertive approach” to internal oversight.

By insisting on the presentation of certificates, the church appears to be moving towards tighter scrutiny of clerical ranks—an area that has historically been a source of contention within the denomination.

Observers say the move is aimed at building trust among members and ensuring that the spiritual hierarchy reflects both integrity and transparency.
