Ambrose Somide’s Successor Gets Nickname
barely three months into the role.
Dare Awonugba, the successor of radio icon Ambrose Somide at Daar Communications, has been given a nickname.
He is now tagged “Mr. Bebe Nlo.” “Bebe Nlo” is a street slang for sustained success in an endeavor.
The lingo is also the tagline adopted by Faaji FM, one of the success stories created by Somide during his 30-year exploits as the Director of Radio Services at Daar Communications.
The veteran broadcaster left the establishment—founded by the late Raymond Alegho Dokpesi—in October 2024.
Awonugba was named as his replacement and earned the appellation “Mr. Bebe Nlo” barely three months into the role.
Somide, whose contributions to Daar Communications remain legendary, is writing another chapter of an already illustrious career as the administrator of his self-owned radio station, Smailz FM.
