Raypower/Faaji FM Takes Drastic Step To Sustain Operations After Ambrose Somide’s Exit
departed from the company as the Director of Radio Services
It is no longer news that ace broadcaster and administrator, Ambrose Olutayo Somide, has left Daar Communications, owners of television station AIT (Africa Independent Television) and radio stations Raypower and Faaji FM.
Somide departed from the company as the Director of Radio Services in a hail of praise on Thursday, October 31, 2024, after 30 years of service.
However, checks revealed that since Somide’s exit, Daar Communications has taken drastic steps to sustain its operations.
The company has reduced the hours of operation for its radio stations.
This development is highlighted by the 9 p.m. shutdown now adopted by Faaji FM, the company’s radio service with an unmatched following on the streets.

“They started the 9 p.m. shutdown of Faaji FM almost immediately after Ambrose (Somide) left. The decision has denied many listeners access to late-hour programs, particularly a call-in show that mediates in marital troubles that I love,” an ardent listener stated.
It is believed that the new management made this decision to limit daily running costs, as result of prevailing economic situation.

Somide, who is credited with creating Faaji FM in 2012, has resumed duties at his own radio station, Smailz FM.
Smailz FM 98.7 celebrated its first anniversary on Saturday, November 2, 2024 – just two days after the broadcaster also known as Adio departed from Daar Communications.
