Akwa Ibom Confirms Passing Of First Lady As Gov Eno Assures His Commitment To Service Remains

The people of Akwa Ibom State are mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of their First Lady, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, who passed away on September 26, 2024.
The news of her death, following an illness, was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, in a statement issued on September 27, 2024.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, following an illness. She passed away peacefully at the hospital, on 26th September, 2024, in the presence of her family,” the statement read.
The late First Lady, known for her dedication to the church, her charitable works, and her role as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, has left a huge void in the hearts of those who knew her.

The government and people of Akwa Ibom have expressed their deep sorrow over her demise, reflecting on her contribution to the community and the support she gave to her husband, Governor Umo Eno.
Despite the immense personal loss, Governor Umo Eno has assured the people of Akwa Ibom that his commitment to the state remains firm. “His Excellency, the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno appreciates all who have stood by the first family in this period and assures all the citizens that despite this huge personal loss, his commitment to the service of the state is unwavering,” the statement continued.
The Eno family has asked for privacy as they mourn and has invited prayers from kind-hearted individuals during this difficult period. “The family submits to the will of the Almighty and asks for the prayers and support of kind-hearted individuals during this difficult time,” the announcement added.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements will be released in due course, but for now, the state is enveloped in grief as it comes to terms with this unexpected loss.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government Enobong Uwah has also directed flags to be flown at half-mast in all government buildings and facilities a “symbol of collective grief and mourning” in the state.
The First Lady’s legacy of service, faith, and family will undoubtedly be remembered and cherished for years to come.
