Abdul Samad Rabiu, founder of BUA Group, has announced a cash incentive package for the Super Eagles following Nigeria’s 2–0 victory over Algeria in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final clash played on Saturday.

In a message released after the win, the philanthropist congratulated the players for what he described as a performance that “lifted the spirit of the nation,” adding that Nigerians are “proudly cheering the team on” as they prepare for the semi-finals.

To spur the team further, champion of commerce pledged a reward of $500,000 should the Super Eagles win their semi-final match, with an additional $50,000 promised “for every goal scored” in the encounter.

He also promised a bigger reward if Nigeria goes all the way, stating that “should the team go on to win the final,” he would commit $1 million to the players, alongside a $100,000 bonus “for each goal scored in the final.”

Rabiu urged the players to sustain their momentum, telling them to “keep making Nigeria proud” as they continue to carry the country’s hopes on the continental stage.

The pledge has added to the growing sense of optimism around the team as the tournament enters its decisive phase, reinforcing the belief that strong private sector backing can boost morale and performance.

Such motivation is not unusual for the major contributor the nation’s economy, who is also the founder of ASR Africa, described as the largest charity initiative by a private individual, with interventions cutting across education, health, social development and humanitarian causes.

In December 2025, he further underlined this reward-driven culture when he announced a ₦30 billion cash gift to long-serving staff of BUA Group, a move he said was “in recognition of excellence, dedication and unwavering brand loyalty” across the organisation.

Through these gestures, the large-heart has continued to project a philosophy that blends enterprise with encouragement, using incentives and philanthropy to inspire excellence in both national service and corporate life.
