“The Worst Is Over!” — Tinubu Declares As He Celebrates Eid With Nigerians
declaring that the nation had emerged from its economic difficulties
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday assured Nigerians that the toughest days facing the country were gradually giving way to a brighter future, declaring that the nation had emerged from its economic difficulties and was now on the path to stability and prosperity.
In his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world, the President said the sacrifices made by Nigerians in the last three years were beginning to yield positive results, insisting that ongoing reforms by his administration had started repositioning the country for growth, investment and job creation.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu declared.
The President said Eid-el-Kabir remained a powerful reminder of faith, sacrifice, obedience and compassion as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, urging Nigerians to continue embracing unity, selflessness and love for one another irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.
According to him, “Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the enduring virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim—faith, obedience, and the willingness to sacrifice for a higher purpose.”
The Nigerian leader noted that although the reforms introduced by his administration had come with challenges, they were necessary to secure a better future for coming generations.
“As a nation, we are on a journey of reconstruction and renewal. The reforms we have undertaken are challenging but necessary to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria for future generations,” he said.
The President also expressed optimism that the government’s policies would continue to improve national security and create more opportunities for citizens across the country.
Speaking on insecurity, Tinubu acknowledged that terrorists and bandits were still carrying out attacks in some parts of the country despite intensified military operations and intelligence efforts.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he insisted.
The President referenced the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader as evidence that security agencies were making progress in the fight against terrorism.
He called on Nigerians, especially Muslims, to use the Eid celebration to pray for peace, national unity and wisdom for leaders at all levels, while also encouraging citizens to support the less privileged and strengthen communal bonds.
“Let us also reach out to the less privileged, share with our neighbours, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood that unite us as one people,” Tinubu stated.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to national development, the President said government would continue investing heavily in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development to unlock the country’s vast potential.
“My administration remains committed to building a Nigeria where all citizens can live in peace, worship freely, and pursue their dreams without fear,” he added.
The President wished Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration, praying that Allah accepts the sacrifices and prayers of the faithful and continues to bless the nation.
