Those in the know insist that the headline-grabbing face-off between popular Fuji musicians, Taye Currency (Taye Adebisi) and Pasuma (Wasiu Alabi Odetola), is far from over.

They say the spiraling-out-of-control quarrel has just been paused.

This assertion is premised on the alleged understanding that resulted in a “cease-fire” on both sides.

Taye Currency, who went on the offensive, reportedly told the chief mediator in the quarrel, Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe—the respected Fuji music leader known as Kwam1—that he would sheath his swords as long as Pasuma stopped the offensive responses and called his allies to order.

Kwam1, who met with the two “combatants” separately, got Pasuma to agree to put a stop to the escalating discord.

Although he further directed Taye Currency to visit Pasuma and apologize to him, the latter is yet to do so.

“But the reality is that the crisis has not been resolved; what is in place is merely telling both of them to stop publicly abusing each other and appear friendly. It is a facade because the quarrel is actually the culmination of years of underlying resentments and manipulations. Unless the causes are addressed, wrongdoings admitted, and forgiveness sought and given, there is no peace in sight between Taye Currency and Pasuma,” insiders explained.

Taye Currency is said to be aggrieved over “certain” slights he endured while trying to attain fame in his association with Pasuma.

But the in-crowd insists that while he may feel validated in his position, he has misstepped in seeking redress.

Taye Currency

Taye Currency—a Pasuma sound-alike—touched a nerve when he shared the unwanted history that his mentor leveraged the style of another senior musician, Obesere (Abass Akande), to reach stardom.

The Ibadan, Oyo State-based Fuji star particularly drew the ire of fans when he tried to pass off his relationship with the mentor he leveraged his identity by adopting names like “Taye Paso” (Pasuma’s Taye) and “Paso Ibadan” (Ibadan-based Pasuma) to achieve fame, as “just colleagues.”

Infuriated fans turned on him, and other Pasuma copycats came after him, branding him with tags like “ungrateful” and “disloyal.”

Pasuma

Pasuma and Currency share the same fan base, with the former having the larger following.

Alamu Agbolagade, another Pasuma sound-alike famously known as “Tiri Leather, the understanding musician,” leads the charge against Currency.

Tiri Leather is based in Ibadan and is profiting from the discord, as more Pasuma fans identify with him instead of Taye Currency.

Although Pasuma has done as advised by Kwam1 and instructed fans to stop dissing Taye Currency, many of them have refused to let go.

“So it is just a matter of time before the accord crumbles and things worsen, unless a proper resolution of the quarrel is made,” sources say
