Wicked Governor! …embarks on huge debt profile for successor
‘Wicked’ is the emblem a cross section of opinion polls performed by www.societynowng.com in and outside Ogun State tagged Otunba Gbenga Daniel on recent actions credited to him.
The outgoing governor is alleged by the opposition to have embarked on creating a last minute huge debt profile for the incoming administration.
This is allegedly being done by selling off facilities that the incoming administration would need to leverage on to perform it duties.
This development would naturally put the succeeding government in the tight spot of utilising funds that ought to execute other projects in first filling the vacuum created- before embarking on meaningful development.
Amongst the listed properties alleged to have been sold are ’30 units of exclusive commissioners’ lodge located at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate in Abeokuta, Lands and Official cars’
The beneficiaries are listed as ‘friends and loyalists of Governor Daniel’
Though the Daniel led administration had denied such through the state commissioner for information and orientation Shina Kawonise insiders insist ‘a sale of sort is going on’
www.societynowng.com investigations revealed that instead of an outright sale of some of the quarters a long term lease agreement was perfected in some cases.
Indeed sources claimed cars were sold at give away prices but in most cases this might be hard to prove because some of the affected automobiles did not bear direct state government ownership paper.
Though the incoming Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his political party Action Congress have decreed that their administration ‘ would not honour any illegal sales’ analyst agreed Daniel and his outgoing Administration have successfully created a stumbling block on the path of Amosun and his crew.
‘what they now face is a litany of allegations if they do not honour Daniel’s deeds!’ a source quipped.
‘Aside that, they will expend other resources in providing alternatives while they battle to regain sold properties, which they are not even hundred percent sure of getting back’ added another commentator.
.’And while the battle to regain what was ‘illegally’ sold is, what happens to governance in the state?’ asked a yet another person.
The general consensus by majority of the opinion givers is that ‘it takes someone with a WICKED heart to do that to the dreams and aspiration of another.
Ibikunle Amosun had secured the people’s mandate to succeed outgoing governor Gbenga Daniel when he won Daniel’s preferred candidate Gboyega Isiaka of People’s Party of Nigeria and Adetunji Olurin former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s candidate in April gubernatorial election.
