Ogun Deputy Governor, Salmot Badru Scampers To Republic Of Benin Amidst Boos & Jeers By Constituents!

Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Alhaja Salmat Badru is out of the country.

Sources divulged that the outgoing number two citizen of Ogun State was forced to make the move due to growing unpopularity at her base.

Sources tagged her new found hate at her constituency the fall out of recent loss by her party, the People’s Democratic Party at the polls and perceived loss of influence as political office holder.

Resident sources at the her Tube, Ipokia Local Government home town revealed that when it became evident that rival party, Action Congress has won all key positions in the state- and secured source of political patronage for the next political dispensation, supporters of the rival party started booing her at every corner.

The aggressors are said to be aided by her own party people in the locality that believe she hasn’t ‘brought any meaningful’ development to the town.

The growing disenchantment was said to be made more potent for her by indigenes that hold her partly responsible for the inability of the people of the area to produce the governor elect.

The position was originally zoned to Yewa/Awori which her area falls into. But the fierce disagreement between party leaders, former president Olusegun Obasanjo and incumbent governor, Gbenga Daniels led to the emergence of two candidates from the zone- the governor according to reports played the spoiler by sponsoring his candidate on the platform of another party, People’s Party of Nigeria. He moved his loyalists and resources in PDP to PPN to achieve his aim, thereby dividing the strength of the party and giving rival party, ACN -with a candidate from another region- the leverage to win the gubernatorial election.

As a staunch loyalist of Governor Daniel and his deputy, Badru is held responsible for the ‘sin’ of the governor by her constituents.

‘All these made her to be booed and jeered at by the people of her area’ a source noted.

And in order to avoid the increasing embarrassment, she is said to have scampered to neighbouring Benin Republic at press time.

She is said to have avoided staying at the state capital to avoid adding the colour of running under the wings of Governor to avoid trouble at home to the rumours flying around about her.
