Why They Say World Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua Disrespected Paramount Ruler Akarigbo

There are growing talks amongst custodians of culture in Shagamu – Ogun state – and other places over the recent visit of World Boxing champion Anthony Joshua to the palace of the paramount ruler of Remoland, Akarigbo Babatunde Ajayi.

Ogun state is the state of origin while Ishagamu is the birthplace of Joshua who fights as a British citizen.

Joshua on Tuesday, February 19 was in Shagamu and paid homage to the paramount Ruler of Remo land, Akarigbo (Oba) Babatunde Ajayi,

Ishagamu, where Joshua is from, is just a part of the areas where the Akarigbo covers -which include, Iperu where Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun is from.

The boxing champion appeared before the paramount ruler in casual attire – a tee shirt and shorts and sneakers.

Societynow.ng gathered that although he was well received by the paramount ruler and his chiefs, the development has attracted raised eyebrows from custodians and lovers of culture and good conduct.

‘’As a well brought up Yoruba man, more was expected from Joshua’’ is the theme of protest against the appearance of the champion before the Akarigbo.

‘’He disrespected his heritage, the throne, and the monarch’’ is the consensus of opinions on the development which is generating growing talks.

Those against the manner Joshua appeared before the Akarigbo belief that even if he does not favor the traditional Agbada – wearing shorts and tee shirt like someone going to pick grocery down the road before the crown is certainly not it.

‘’Am sure he won’t go before the Queen of England or lesser ranked British blue blood like that’’ a source stated.
