Why Ousted NURTW President, Baruwa Is “Happy” In Fight With MC Oluomo

Ibikunle Baruwa, the ousted National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is in a happy mood according to those in the know.

“His fate has gotten better” informants claimed.

Attempts by the Coalition of forces that removed him from office to perfect the action with a replacement has been halted.

The Federal Government through the Minister of Labour, Simon Lalong has ordered the suspension of the activities of the NURTW nationwide and directed that all factions and leaders cease to be recognized pending the resolution of the issue through a stakeholders meeting.

Baruwa believes he stands a good chance of regaining his position as the NURTW President because he enjoys the backing of the Labour Congress led by Comrade Joe Ajaero.

Baruwa was ousted by a coalition of forces within the NURTW with Musiliu Akinsanya the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the transport union popularly known as MC Oluomo as headman.

The coalition took over the National Headquarters of the NURTW in Abuja and installed Baruwa’s Vice President, Tajudeen Agbede as National Caretaker Chairman.

Agbede as already declared open the process to elect a new National President, with MC Oluomo as one of the major contenders, before the suspension of the NURTW by the Federal Government.

Added checks revealed that while Baruwa enjoys the support of the NLC, Oluomo is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and played a frontline role in the party winning elections in different states as well as the Presidential election.
