Why Many People Are Taking More Interest In Daniel, Amosun’s friendship
“has sparked renewed interest”
The verdict is out.
Former governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun have passed the first major test of their friendship – and an increasing number of people are taking more than a passing interest in their unified front.
The handling of the recent saga regarding the seizure of the nation’s presidential jets in France over a failed contract between the ogun state government and Chinese company, Zhongfu International Investment FXE, is widely labeled testimony that their rapport is deep rooted.
“It has shown it is not just another dance at working together, but better than imagined” according to words on the street.
In different responses, the top politicians respected decisions taken in each other’s time as governor, and adopted a common posture of backing the federal government’s position that the Chinese company has no case and is only “trying to defraud Nigeria“.
.The handling of the situation by the owners of two out of the four formidable political structures in Ogun state – and the three in their political party, All Progressives Congress (APC) – is contrary to expectations in some quarters.

The most telling of the firmness of their rapport, that is has sparked renewed interest, is the aligning by Senator Daniel – he did not seek to be the better man according interpretations here and there.
The contract was initiated by the administration of Gbenga Daniel, who is presently the Senator representing Ogun East, and canceled during the time of his successor Amosun, the immediate past senator from ogun central.
Amosun provided detailed reasons for his action, emphasizing that there is no basis for negotiation with the Chinese company while offering “to work with the agencies of government in any capacity to ensure that Nigeria is not scammed by Zhongfu International Investment FXE, or any other entity.”
The rapport between Daniel and Amosun is viewed as an unofficial alliance that puts the top political players in vantage position to have a strong say in their party – and the politics of Ogun state.
