Amosun, Daniel’s Friendship Faces Major Test

The friendship between former Governorś of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun is facing a litmus test.
And all eyes are on them to see how they will fare.
The test of their rapport has to do with the unraveling drama between Ogun state and Chinese company, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited over the failed contract that resulted in the two orders from the Judicial Court of Paris that Nigeriaś presidential jets undergoing maintenance in France should be seized in lieu of alleged debt.
Zhongshan postured the Federal Government – in international court – to be liable for alleged debt incurred in the cancellation of the contract to manage a free trade zone in Ogun state.
The contract between the Ogun state Government and Zhongshan was initiated in 2007 when Daniel was Governor (2007 to 2011) and cancelled in 2016 when Amosun was in power ( 2011 to 2019).
Based on his pedigree, Daniel is known to always take steps to put things of such nature in context – taking pains to show the correctness of the actions he took.
“But doing that would be directly or indirectly taking on Amosun, and opening a closed chapter regarding actions that estranged them, before they embraced their present status. Ditto Amosun”according to those in the know.
Added information revealed all eyes are on the two friends, to see how they navigate the present situation without letting it affect their friendship.
Further digs revealed that although the Ogun state Government and Federal Government have provided a way out for the to friends, with insistence that Zhongshan’s case lacks merit and is just another attempt “to defraud Nigeria” – after a series of failed moves, what remained to be seen whether the allure of political correctness to be seen as the better person would overcome either of them or not.
“But should they remain true to their friendship and continue to back each other, that is a strong indication that there relationship is not a fluke. And their political opponents should beware” according to emerging talks.
