Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has revealed why he doesn’t ask incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun for any favor.

Daniel disclosed he has shied away from making any requests of Governor Abiodun because he helped him to power.

The former Governor inferred he doesn’t want to be seen as taking advantage of the helping hand he provided.

Abiodun rode to office on the back of a coalition of political forces against immediate past Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

OGD as Daniel is better known played a major part in the development including pulling his support base from rival People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Abiodun’s Swearing

OGD made this political maneuver to counter Governor Amosun pulling his support base out of the APC into the APM (Allied People’s Movement) to back Adekunle Akinlade against his party man, Abiodun.

Dapo Abiodun emerged winner of the keenly contested gubernatorial election and sworn in as governor about one and half years ago, but Daniel insists he is not willing to ask for any favor the Governor despite the huge part he played in his victory.

The revelations by Daniel in an interview with television channel IATV monitored by societynow.ng comes in the face of grumbling by the supporters he pushed into the APC over lack of political patronage from Governor Abiodun.

Daniel’s supporters are said to be unsettled in APC and already plotting a way out, which include backing another person that would favor them for the 2023 gubernatorial election.

Former Governor Gbenga Daniel has refused to be publicly drawn into the talks of the disaffection of his supporters in APC over alleged non-recognition of their toil by incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun.
