Details available have it that loyalist of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and party chieftains of the All Progressives Congress are having “strong” reasons to be concerned in Ondo state.

Insiders disclosed the Senatorial ambition of Tokunbo Modupe, the power behind pacesetter brand positioning firm TPT has reawakened the might of rival People’s Democratic Party in Ondo state.

Modupe confirmed to be the definition of a firm grass root presence in Ondo is preparing to become the next Senator representing Ondo North.

The holder of chieftaincy title Akogun is said to have kick-started an underground campaign to achieve his aim.

According to a source the problem for Akeredolu, his loyalists and APC party members is that Modupe has become the rally point for the reawakening of the might of PDP in Ondo state.

The state was a PDP state before the election that brought Akeredolu into power – and has the structure to be feared if weaned together again.

Modupe a vital resource person for Governor Olusegun Mimiko and PDP is cashing in on years of charity work, community development initiatives and pass supports to political office holders to achieve just this.

‘’the kind of support the Modupe movement and senatorial goal is mustering, even before official declaration, is what is creating panic for Akeredolu and his men..the fear is that it may turn out a widespread movement that would push them out power, not just in Modupe’s base but other parts of the state’’ a source observed.

Checks revealed that for Akeredolu and his men, there is indeed need to panic.

The man breathing new life into PDP in the Ondo with his Senatorial ambition is credited with the emergence of not less than seven lawmakers – at the federal and state levels combined – including Ajayi Borrofice, the Senator whose seat is at stake, before he defected from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
